x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] a_graphite_glow and my gj.

Wellll, this summer was, ahem, 'totally not awesome' (though it was LAST summer that completely sucked) so it's time to point out the things that were 'like totally awesome' and all that jazz. The stuff that cheered me up when stupid shit happened, the diamonds I found while wading in crap, the lulz had WHILE WAITING FOR THE THIRD BOOK OF AVATAH TO COME OUT.

Here're a few of my favorite those things!

A GREAT DEAL OF THIS POST MENTIONS OR LIKNS TO PRO-HOMOSEXUAL, UM, STUFF. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ SUCH THINGS, THEN WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING AT MY LJ! GEEZ.

Liliane, Bi-Dyke by Leanne Franson
(PG-er...13ish maybe, not advised for homophobes, heterophobes or anti-PCers)

The lady who makes this comic is one of my heroes. No, seriously. 'Cause when you make comics like this...ILU and it cleared up a lot about the term 'queer' that confused the hell out of me.

The character, who is based on the artist herself, is Liliane and, yes, she is bi (and so am I, dunh) and a working illustrator. (er, living my dream much.) She writes/draws about issues ranging from banning children's books that dare to feature gay folk in any shape or form to why Saint Bernards are awesome (I gotta stop abusing that word...) Her way of cartooning is loose, easy to understand (not a lot of overly complex/un-necessary panels thank god), and nicely animated.

This particular arc called Butchless Books reminded me of how hard it is to be an illustrator and taught me to always, ALWAYS make sure you know exactly what your client wants. It also reminded me of how assholelish people can be even if you thought you were on the same page with them. If you can read this arc and not get angry or frustrated along with Liliane, not even just a little, something is definitely wrong with you. :( JUS' SAYIN'.

There is one thing I don't like about this comic and that is the website it's on. The archiving is at bit disorganized and Comic Genesis has the habit of...not working. Also, 'cause you know how shallow I am, THE SITE'S JUST NOT PRETTY ENOUGH FOR YOU, MS. LEANNE. I know, I know, simplicity is great and all; I enjoy it myself, but damn if I had a clue of how to make a prettier website with CSS for her, I'D DO IT. I love it that much. But once I get enough money to buy some of her books it won't matter anyways.

I don't always agree with what she has to say, but at least she has the courage to state her opinions, without apologies or backtracking. That alone makes me a fan of hers.

Well that and her pretty and clean style.

If you like to lulz and think at the same time (which is possible as proven by this artist) please give Liliane a shot.

Can you say, best idea of 2007? Sure you can. Dood, it brings the lulz and the dramas and the fandom lovin' all in one package. It's even got creepy stalker folks that make fanfictions of the mods.

If you don't get what it's about, I'll explain. It's simple really; you've got a secret that you'd 'zomg absolutely die' if anyone in your fandom ever, ever, found out? GO HERE! Just try not to use your photobucket account while the privacy option is off; you'll get outed. I've seen it happen. It ain't pretty.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL OF MY LIFE?

Out of all the caps lock comms out there, this one, made for One Piece fans, I love the most. Yes, even more than the Avatar one. As you can see, I LIKE TO ABUSE MY CAPS LOCK KEY THUS EXPLAINING MY LOVE FOR IT.

It's hilarious and fun. And look! GENDER BENDER WEDNESDAYS! What's not to love (other than the constant shift key hurtin')? Too bad I'm too shy to say anything. So I lurk. :D

And so the countdown begins. We're all DOOOOMED.
