You know, this week wasn't that great, what with the financial and family issues going on. So when I find something that keeps me sane (which is not saying much) I gotta tell peoples about it. Without futher ado...
Written/Graphic Novels
* The Book of Earth and The Book of Water by Marjorie J. Kellogg :It's been a while since I've been into a written novel, I mean, really 'into' as in caring about the characters, the plot and so on. And I found these books (which are conjoined into one book and are part of a quartet) and I was happy. The storyline uses the common plot involving warlocks, powerful dragons, and the four most overly-used elements in the fantasy genre and brings it all down to Earth, so to speak. The writing is simple, yet not so much that it makes it uninteresting. Yeah, I've heard about the complaints against the second novel mentioned, but geez people do you really expect a realistic character like that to buy into magic that easily? Oops, I've said too much. Go read it, man!
* Kingdom Hearts (the manga) adapted by Shiro Amano: So wow, I haven't played any of the games yet, but everybody and their mom(I'm not joking) has. And I had, somehow, fell for the characters... it's character-love at first sight, d00d! What's a poor college student with no gaming platform to dooooo~ (until her friends let her borrow them). The cheapest answer available, MANGA! Only $6 bucks, for your spoiler-freak (that's me) needs! *is slapped around by a bunch of people* Anyway, the art is pretty good, soon becomes a nice combination of Japanese and American styles of cartooning. Then again I had problems with the manga style to Disney style transition at first. But I got comfortable with it, as did the artist, and went along for the ride. Not too drama-heavy (yet), funny at times, and also a bit corny at times but I like it much! Does liking the comic adaption to a video game first make me a poser? Probably somehow. But at least I'm having fun!
IM Conversations
Now there's a couple of memorable ones I've had this week, but, I um...forgot to save them. So! Here's one that's happening, kinda, now!
Elisa= doommate, er...um dormmate and renji_fan1185
Me= The Ebenizer! D;
*Wherein Elisa enjoys a murder/mystery, while I die from suspense!
renji_fan1185: they're trying to find the realmurderer of a girl
TheEbenizer: Somebody got framed?
renji_fan1185: somebody was pressured to confess
renji_fan1185: a false confession by an already known murderer
TheEbenizer: Ah, so it's a matter of assumption.
renji_fan1185: aaah, it had been a closed case...but now...they're going to find the real murderer
TheEbenizer: That's right! Get that evil-murdering sicko!
renji_fan1185: yep!
renji_fan1185: they found where she was left!
TheEbenizer: Where?
renji_fan1185: in the woods
TheEbenizer: How's the show? Is it over?
renji_fan1185: noooo
renji_fan1185: more plot twists
TheEbenizer: Argh I have a love/hate relationship with plot twists!!
renji_fan1185: seriously
renji_fan1185: omg MAJOR twist
TheEbenizer: Oh SNAP! What's going on over there?
renji_fan1185: it's CRAZY!
TheEbenizer: psycological thriller?
renji_fan1185: holy...SHIT
renji_fan1185: you wouldn't BELIEVE this!
TheEbenizer: *is dying from the suspence* What? What?! WHAT?!!
renji_fan1185: i can't even say
TheEbenizer: *is ded*
TheEbenizer: ...
TheEbenizer: [flatline] ______________________________________
renji_fan1185: EBONY!

TheEbenizer: Naw, I have allergies
renji_fan1185: ah

Well, that's it for tonight. Don't worry, there's a whoooole bunch of stuff I like that I haven't mentioned yet due to the fact that I'm forgetful and very tired right now. ^__^
I leave you with my reaction to most mystery shows:
TheEbenizer: 'Oh SNAP! That guy just got shot before the commercial break! Is he dead? Alive? But he's the main character! He can't be dead....'
TheEbenizer: 'Can he?'
TheEbenizer: 'Oh SNAP!'
